Here’s why you’ll love this recipe:

  • It is clean eating, gluten free, keto-friendly.
  • It is far healthier than most store bought dressings that’s are full of things like stabilizers, preservatives, emulsifiers, artificial flavorings, and sugar.
  • This recipe takes just a few minutes to make.
  • It can be tweaked to suit your personal taste and preference.

To Make It You’re Going to Need the Following:

  • Mayonnaise: I like to use my easy 2-minute homemade mayonnaise for this recipe.
  • Pickles: I also use my homemade pickles. I finely dice the pickles and use a bit of the brine for extra flavor.
  • Salt: I’m using a Himalayan pink salt but you can also use a sea salt if preferred.
  • Sugar: We’re only using a small amount of finely ground cane sugar.
  • Smoked Paprika: The little hit of earthy and smoky flavor pairs well towards creating an authentic flavor of Thousand Island dressing.
  • Tomato Ketchup: I recommend using your favorite clean label ketchup that utilizes simple ingredients.
  • Onion: Red, yellow or white, we’ll finely dice our onion. I recommend not skipping this as it gives great flavor to the dressing.

Add all ingredients together into a bowl and mix well. I almost wish I had more to write here since this feels rather sparse, but it really is all there is to it.

Once mixed together, you can easily adjust the levels of seasoning and flavor to suit your personal taste.

Big Mac Sauce?!?!

Now, in my opinion, the taste of this can be compared not only to Thousand Island Dressing but also to McDonald’s Big Mac sauce. Hold on now, before you yell at me that Big Mac sauce isn’t the same as Thousand Island, you have to admit that it’s close. And while I know that most recipes that have reconstructed/reverse engineered that particular sauce will unabashedly point out that the copycat Big Mac sauce has no ketchup in it, it is also true that most of them feature French dressing which is essentially a creamy ketchup-based dressing. So, halve the ketchup and skip the smoked paprika and you’ll honestly have a great version that’s pretty darn close to authentic Big Mac sauce on your hands! 😉

Enjoy your dressing on your salads or you can even use it as a spread for burgers and sandwiches! Clean eating, simple and delicious, just how things should be!
